The ontology of the Photographic Image

Within this reading, there were very complex articulations on photography and its origins. The reading itself was quite heavy and wordy. A quote from the reading that really stood out to me was when the writer stated: “By the power of photography, the natural image of a world that we neither know nor can see, nature at last does more than imitate art: she imitates the artist.” This is a very powerful quote that concluded what the author is trying to convey through his writing. Other quotes I found interesting were: “embalms times” and “freed from their destiny”. This essentially calls photos a ghost of some sort. I look at pictures as memories. They can help people relive moments or be transformed into moments of time.
